But you're exactly right, yes. All the annoying regular requirements in life don't stop just because you're going through a hard time. There's still food to be made, dishes to be cleaned, laundry to be done...and if your friend really is suffering, having a filthy apartment is only going to impede her progress towards recovery. I'm not saying you need to turn into her live-in maid, but visiting occasionally to bring her favourite groceries and meals will go a long way.
On that note, does she have a favourite fruit, or scent? Buy her some of those 'bath bubble bombs' or whatever they're called, in that flavour. It will encourage her to want to keep up a basic standard of cleanliness, and is another method of showing you care enough to know the things she likes.
